Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 29, 2026
Stoqd is a pantry management app built and maintained by Tyler Judson. This policy explains what data the app handles and how. The short version: Stoqd has no servers and no account system — your data stays on your device.
1. Information We Collect
None on a server. Stoqd does not require an account, does not have user logins, and does not transmit your pantry data, recipes, grocery lists, or activity history to any server we control.
All app data is stored locally on your device in a SQLite database. Images you save to recipes are stored in your app's local documents directory.
2. Third-Party Services
Stoqd uses the following third-party services to provide its features. When you trigger one of these features, the relevant data is sent directly from your device to the third party:
- Google Gemini API — Receipt photos, recipe photos, and recipe text you choose to import are sent to Google's Gemini API for parsing. Your data is subject to Google's Privacy Policy. Stoqd does not store copies of these images or text on any server.
- Open Food Facts — Barcode scans query the public Open Food Facts product database. Queries are anonymous and contain only the barcode.
- Go-UPC — If Open Food Facts has no match, Stoqd falls back to the Go-UPC barcode service. Queries are anonymous and contain only the barcode.
3. What Stoqd Does Not Do
- No user accounts and no authentication.
- No analytics or telemetry.
- No advertising and no ad networks.
- No third-party trackers or fingerprinting.
- No selling or sharing of personal information.
4. Your Choices
You can wipe all locally stored data at any time using the "Reset Data" option in Settings. Uninstalling the app also removes all data Stoqd has stored on your device.
5. Children's Privacy
Stoqd is not directed at children under 13. Because the app does not collect personal information, it does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
6. Changes to This Policy
If this policy materially changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a revised "Last updated" date. Continued use of Stoqd after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
